Teenage girl seriously injured after collision between scooter and van in Dublin

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses.

A teenage girl has been hospitalised following a collision between a scooter and a van in Dublin on Wednesday (1 December).

The incident occurred on Walkinstown Avenue in Dublin 12 shortly after 6pm.

The teenage girl was seriously injured when she was struck by a van while travelling on the avenue on a push scooter.

She was taken to Children’s Health Ireland Hospital at Crumlin where she continues to be treated for serious injuries.

No other injuries were reported and the scene was preserved following the incident for a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

Gardaí are appealing to any person who may have witnessed this incident to come forward.

“Any person, pedestrian or motorist, who was travelling along Walkinstown Avenue on Wednesday, 1 December 2021 between 5.45pm and 6.30pm is asked to contact investigating Gardaí,” a Garda spokesperson said.

“Any road users who have camera footage (including mobile phone footage and dashcam footage) of Walkinstown Avenue at the time of the incident is asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.”
