Paul Moore

Tragic news this morning.

An 18 year old man has died while another man is seriously injured after two vehicles collided shortly before midnight on Sunday in Longford.

The teenager was travelling as a front seat passenger when the car hit a tractor at Cloonart, Bornacoola, on the N4.

The young man was brought to Mullingar Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The driver and two other occupants of the car were also brought to the same hospital. It’s reported that one of the passengers and the driver suffered ‘minor’ injuries, while the third passenger is in a serious condition.

The driver of the tractor was uninjured following the collision.

The road is currently closed as the Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and Diversions unit continue their work.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses and urged anyone with information to contact Longford Garda Station on 043-3350570, the Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
