Ouch.

The European Central Bank (ECB) has released data today that makes for grim reading for Irish people.

The data, which was taken between 2009 and 2013, reveals that Irish people lost more personal wealth during the financial crash than people in any other European country.

The ECB experts discovered that Ireland lost more than €18,000 per person mainly due to the nosedive in the property market.

€18,000. per. person. Christ.

Greek and Spanish people also suffered losing €17,000 and €13,000 per person respectively and property was the main reason there as well.

Another interesting piece of data in the report was that the personal wealth of people in Germany and the Netherlands actually grew by €33,000 and €19,000 respectively.

There is positive news though because more up-to-date figures published by the ECB shows that the situation of weaker nations may be gradually improving.
