The delete function on WhatsApp is about to get a whole lot better

A significant change…

WhatsApp introduced a delete function recently following years of lobbying from its users.

Now, it looks like the feature is set to get a very useful little update.

The most recent WhatsApp beta (v2.18.69) for Android now gives users up to 4,096 seconds (68 minutes and 16 seconds) to delete a message for everyone in a chat.

The older version of the app only gave users 420 seconds (seven minutes) to delete a message, after that time the option became unavailable.

The change was first reported by WABetaInfo, the WhatsApp update tracking site.

There’s been no official announcement from WhatsApp on feature so it remains unclear if the new change will be hear to stay and as of yet, it’s only available on Android.

Two other new updates which were announced (but aren’t available yet, though they will be on future versions) is the use of locked recordings and stickers.

This follows an update in January which allows you to prioritise your notifications on the app.

The change allows you to decide which messages show up on your screen, which cause your phone to vibrate, or which don’t show up at all when your phone is locked – allowing you to go about your daily routine without being bothered by spam messaging. You can read about that one here.
