It’s too long…
The EU General Court has asked the Irish government to tweak its appeal against the European Commission ruling that Apple must pay €13 billion plus interest.
According to a report by Bloomberg, the appeal is too long and the Department of Finance has been asked by the EU General Court to shorten the appeal.
In August, following a lengthy investigation, the European Commission ruled that Apple’s tax arrangements with Ireland were illegal under state aid rules and ordered that Apple must pay Ireland €13 billion plus interest following the sweetheart deal between the state and the company.
The deal meant that Apple paid just 0.005% on earnings in Ireland in 2014.
The EU, Apple and the Irish government have refused to comment on the appeals process.
