The hottest chilli pepper in the world is on sale in Tesco

Assault your tastebuds

JOE

This could be the next ice bucket challenge.

The world’s hottest chilli pepper called the Komodo Dragon is now on sale in Tesco stores in the UK and here’s hoping it ends up in Irish stores soon because it looks like a hell of a lot of fun.

Social media is sure to be awash with people taking on the challenge of tasting the pepper and filming their reaction after the pepper is on sale for a pound a piece in 500 Tesco stores across the UK

The pepper has been measured at 1.4 million Scoville Heat Units (SHU). In comparison, the peppers put in your Subway sandwich measure just 3,500 SHU, so if you can’t handle those, don’t bother attempting these bad boys.

Tesco have released a warning with the pepper saying there is a slight delay with the effect of the pepper. First you get a hot fruity taste and ten seconds later you are hit with the full ferocity of the spice.

So hold off on the bragging after taking a taste because you won’t be standing when a few seconds later.

If anyone manages to get a hold of one of these be sure to film you and your buddies tasting it and send it in to us, we would love to see your faces trying to handle the heat of the Komodo Dragon chilli pepper.
