The rules have changed in a big way for Dublin’s street performers

Carl Kinsella

It’s hard out here for a busker.

Dublin City counsellors this morning voted on a measure that would restrict the use of backing tracks by street performers within the Dublin city limits.

This will prove a huge obstacle to many non-musical performers in Dublin City who perform acrobatic or juggling routines with the aid of back music.

There had been calls to limit the use of the backing tracks by both residents of the city and business-owners.

While backing tracks are now prohibited, the counsellors did rejected a ban on complete amplification, according to Today FM.
