Drama in Rio…
It’s all kicking off in Rio as Pat Hickey has been arrested by Brazilian police as part of an investigation into the irregular sale of tickets for the Olympic Games.
The news broke a short while ago and there’s been a number of reports, including the BBC reporting that Hickey had tried to flee from police in his dressing-gown.
The arrest took place at the Olympic Council of Ireland’s hotel in Barra da Tijuca.
People have been left stunned by the news and there’s been quite a reaction to the revelations online… I mean, it’s not every day that the President of the Olympic Council of Ireland gets arrested as part of an investigation into ticket sale irregularities.
The Internet went into a mild frenzy as the drama unfolded…

The irony if BBC report on Hickey trying to avoid arrest is true – he couldn't run away fast enough.

IOC withdrew my acreditation to have access to hotel where hickey was arrested. The pass was valid until 22.08 and given to me on 01.08

Fair play to Pat Hickey, ticket touting* when the stadiums are virtually empty is some achievement
