The final show signalled the end of the band’s farewell tour which began with them playing the Main Stage of Electric Picnic before they began a full tour of Ireland, and even released a final song in the meantime.
Taking to X after last night’s show, many praised the band for their tireless work over the years and for the memories they helped create.
One person wrote: “Well folks, there truly ends an era. The retirement gig of The Wolfe Tones. A magical and quite emotional night. Thank you lads for the music and the memories. @wolfetones.”
Sinn Fein politician John Brady wrote: “Great night at the Wolfe Tones final ever concert. Thanks for 60 years of letting the people sing their stories and their songs, And the music of their native land, Their lullabies and battlecries and songs of hope and joy.”
Another fan wrote: “Happy retirement @wolfetones … 60 years on the road, incredible stuff.”
