The scam emails have been seeking private information from customer accounts.
People have been receiving emails, claiming to be from Irish Water, asking for customers to sign in to their account and follow fake links which actually take them to another website.
Irish Water has warned its customers to ignore such emails, while reassuring those concerned that its own operations are fully functioning.

The Irish Times have reported that a number of organisations have been hit by similar scams in the recent past, like Electric Ireland and the Revenue Commissioners.
The phishing scams pertain to private individual information, especially concerning financial affairs.
