While Galway being named European Capital of Culture 2020 was greeted with excitement in the Tribal County, Limerick were left bitterly disappointed.
Galway, Limerick and Waterford had all made the shortlist to be named alongside the Croatian city of Rijeka, with Galway winning out.
The people of Limerick, while wishing their friends from the west well, were disappointed.

The Rubberbandits, as usual, put their uniquely positive spin on the county’s letdown, insisting that Limerick ‘will always be the city of counter culture.’
