There’s some very good news today for Irish people who want to live in Canada

Carl Kinsella

Canada has got an awful lot going for it.

Maple syrup? Check. Ice hockey? Check. Terminal politeness? Double-triple-check, eh? But Canada now has an additional advantage that will appeal to would-be Irish emigrants.

As of today, even more of Canada’s provinces recognise Irish driving licenses as valid – meaning that any Irish driver who arrives in Canada won’t have to re-take their driving test, according to the Irish Times.

This agreement already existed in Ontario (where major destinations like Toronto are) and other provinces, but it has now been extended to the regions of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Alberta, Nova Scotia, Quebec and Prince Edward Island are the remaining provinces to not have such an agreement in place – so that’s where you avoid if you want a smooth transition to life in Canada.
