Outrage as thieves steal kegs of freshly-delivered beer from Clare bar

Dave Hanratty

“You would certainly notice it driving behind them.”

The staff of a pub in Clare have issued an appeal to the public for assistance following a daylight robbery that took place directly outside the premises.

CCTV footage of McGregors Bar & Bistro in Sixmilebridge appears to show a red hatchback car pull up outside the pub following the delivery of kegs of beer.

Five unattended kegs are visible next to the car at one point:

Shortly afterwards, the same car is witnessed driving away with the five full kegs of beer placed in the back of the vehicle.

“We need some help folks!” noted a post on the official McGregors Bar & Bistro Facebook page following the incident earlier this week.

“A small red car believed to be a VW Golf pulled up and stole five kegs that had just been delivered to us.

“We have caught it on CCTV and it is with the Gardaí along with the keg details. The car departed up the Shannon Road with the boot wide open.

“You would certainly notice it driving behind them,” the post concludes.

Staff at McGregors Bar & Bistro have urged the public to come forward if they have information related to the theft.

Anyone with relevant information is asked to either send a direct message via social media or make contact with Sixmilebridge Garda Station.
