This guy is actually suing McDonald’s over their mozzarella sticks

JOE

Our first reaction upon biting into a hollow tube of seasoned, cheese-stuffed breadcrumbs isn’t ‘legal action,’ but perhaps it should be.

We brought you news of McDonald’s’ mozzarella sticks that turned out to be just sticks. Well, now it seems our generous public service announcement wasn’t quite enough for one guy.

Chris Howe, an American, has taken the (hopefully) unprecedented step of launching a class action lawsuit over false advertising.

But according to Law360, it’s not the hollow snacks that Howe is taking issue with.

“Rather than solely containing cheese, the sticks contain an admixture of various substances,” Howe argues. “In particular, McDonald’s has used starch as a cheap substitute and filler.”

He argues that, had he known the truth about the mozzarella sticks, he would not have bought them, and has brought a class action suit to the tune of more than $5m over the ‘mislabeled and adulterated’ snacks.

The restaurant chain plans to “vigorously defend” itself against the allegations, with a spokesperson saying: “Our mozzarella cheese sticks are made with 100 percent low moisture part skim mozzarella cheese.”
