Many of the categories included are fairly run-of-the-mill (Quote of the Year, Lookalike of the Year, King and Queen of NCI) and others are cleverly-titled with the aim of having some harmless fun at the expense of the eventual recipient, such as Olympic Flame of the Year (never out).
Some of the other categories, however, had raised a few eyebrows, such as Most affectionate person of the Year (slut), Rack of the Year and Rear of the Year.
When asked to comment on the awards by JOE today, the NCI Students' Union issued the following response: “With regard to the recent post on the NCI Students’ Union Facebook page. This event was set up by one of the departments within the Students’ Union.
"It was brought to our attention, as an SU executive, today. We do not condone this event, nor do we agree with its content.
"We have removed this event from our calendar and we wholeheartedly apologise to anyone who has been offended in the process.”
