It’s not often we share poetry, having willingly left it behind the second we left handed up English Paper II.

Sometimes however there is a need for more than news reports and political commentary.

This poem by Warsan Shire accurately touches upon the agony that is being felt all over the world as a result of recent terror attacks.

There are 1,025,109.8 words in the English language but today, after so much violence and bloodshed, even those million words don’t feel like enough.

Warsan Shire is a Somali poet based in London her work has been featured on Beyoncé’s album Lemonade.
