This poor guy lost his phone in Ibiza and came home to a bill of over €20,000

As if coming back from holiday wasn't bad enough.

As if coming back from holiday wasn’t bad enough anyway.

Corey Pye was left pie-faced when he got home from his recent holiday in Ibiza.

The 21-year-old lost his phone three days into a week-long trip to the party island but didn’t bother reporting it missing because it was password protected.

However, there are some wily thieves out there and they got through his password and proceeded to go to town on Corey’s phone.

His plan with Vodafone was for unlimited UK calls, unlimited texts and 1GB of internet for £17.50 a month, but not overseas calls. Uh oh.

Corey thought nothing of it until he arrived home to a bill of nearly €7,000, ouch. But when the next monthly bill arrived through the letterbox, it was for nearly €13,000. What the f*ck?

Corey was furious with the mobile provider for not cutting him off before the bill got out of control but their policy is to only cut off a customer after the phone is reported missing.

However, Vodafone investigated the matter further and it turned out the phone was part of organised criminal activity so they drastically reduced the bill to £500.

A lucky boy and a lesson learned.

Hat-tip to Daily Mail.
