Great to see.
Ahead of the upcoming referendum to repeal the Eighth Amendment, plenty of Irish emigrants have already been travelling home to cast their vote.
The #Hometovote hashtag began trending on Twitter with people coming home to vote on both the Yes and No sides from all corners of the globe.
Just like the Marriage Equality referendum, some of the commuting tales are remarkable with people even flying from Buenos Aires to London to Dublin.
Parents reunited with their children at the arrival gates, friends reconnecting after spending time apart and the simple home comforts of Ireland are all being enjoyed but, of course, the main issue revolves around Friday’s vote.
Regardless of your stance on the Eight Amendment, it’s encouraging to see a wave of Irish people exerting their democratic right to vote and shape the future of Ireland.
Lads #hometovote is kicking off in earnest as some repealers in far flung countries are getting on planes already… definitely a hashtag to get the warm n fuzzies going. pic.twitter.com/t8x8wMwYd2

Was actually so humbled and relieved to meet four other Irish people on the flight from Buenos Aires to London, all of them flying onwards to Dublin today or tomorrow to #voteyes. #hometovote #together4yes

Just collected eldest son from Dublin Airport. In 2015 Ireland gave him his right – the right to get married.
On Friday he’ll return the favour and vote to give women the right to make decisions about their own bodies. #Together4Yes #hometovote #soproud— Noeleen McHugh (@MchughNoeleen) May 23, 2018
