Three arrested following shooting and stabbing incidents outside church in Galway

A number of incidents took place outside a church Mervue in Galway.

Three males in Longford have been arrested following a number of shooting and stabbing incidents in Galway.

The arrests are in connection with an investigation in relation to a number of incidents that took place outside the Holy Family Church in Mervue in Galway on 13 January.

A man in his 30s received a gunshot wound to the leg, while a second man in his late teens received a stab wound to the back. Both were treated in University Hospital Galway.

A third man received minor injuries in an assault on Walter Macken Road, which is also under investigation.

Gardaí arrested three males in Longford on Friday morning in relation to the incidents.

The three males, two aged in their early 40s and the third in his late 30s, are due to appear before Longford District Court on Friday morning.
