Two women seriously injured following three-car collision in Wexford

One of the women is said to be in a critical condition.

Two women have been seriously injured following a major road traffic collision that took place in Wexford on Tuesday afternoon, 21 September.

The three-car collision took place at approximately 4pm on Tuesday at Ballymaclare in New Ross on the R734 between Slaught and the Five Roads.

After emergency services attended the scene, a woman aged in her 50s – the driver of one of the cars involved in the incident – was taken to Tallaght University Hospital in Dublin where her condition has been described as critical.

The driver of the second car, a woman aged in her 20s, was taken to Waterford University Hospital. Her injuries are believed to be serious, though not life-threatening.

No other injuries were reported at the scene and the road was later reopened to traffic.

Gardaí have issued an appeal for witnesses to come forward. Any road users who were travelling in the area at the time of the crash and who may have camera footage are asked to make contact with Gardaí.
