Three family members killed in crash in Antrim

Desperately sad news.

Three members of the same family were killed in a fatal two-vehicle road traffic collision in Portglenone in Antrim on Monday.

The victims, all from the Kilrea area of Derry, have been named by the PSNI as husband and wife Paul and Verena Creelman, and Phil Hegarty, who was the brother of Verena.

According to the PSNI, a silver Volkswagen Passat and a black Audi were involved in the accident on the Lisnahunshin Road at around 10.40am on Monday.

The three relatives, all believed to be in their 50s, were travelling in the Passat.

In a death notice, Dempsey Funeral Directors said that Paul and Verena were the beloved parents of Sean, Damien, Mikaela and Tomás and a number of grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements are to be announced at a later date.

Inspector David Anderson has appealed for information and urged anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have captured dash cam footage, to contact police on 101 quoting reference number 591 27/07/20.
