A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána has confirmed that three men have been arrested after a shooting incident last night.
The three men (aged 23, 27 and 32) were arrested in connection with an incident near Monasterevin where Gardaí had been following a black Audi “driving at speed.” After the Gardaí began to tail the vehicle, the front seat male passenger got out of the car and produced what Gardaí believed to be a shotgun before discharging one shot.
Later that evening at around 10:30pm, three men were stopped by Gardaí and taken into custody in connection with the incident. The men can be held for up to three days while the investigation continues.
