Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow thunderstorm and rain warning for 20 counties.
Published on Monday morning (12 June), the alert is set to be in place from 12pm to 10pm later that day. It applies to the entire province of Leinster, as well as the counties Cavan, Donegal, Leitrim, Monaghan, Roscommon, Sligo, Tipperary and Waterford.
“Localised slow-moving showers with heavy downpours, potential thunderstorms and a chance of hail,” the Met Éireann warning reads.
The Irish meteorological service added that the possible impacts of the weather conditions include “localised flooding” and “difficult travelling conditions”.

Meanwhile, the UK Met Office has also issued two Status Yellow thunderstorm warnings.
One applies to Derry, Fermanagh and Tyrone and will be valid from 12pm to 9pm on Monday.
The other is for all of Northern Ireland and will take effect during the same hours on Tuesday.
In terms of the Republic of Ireland, Met Éireann weather outlook for the coming week reads:
“Very warm throughout the week with sunny spells along with heavy showers or thunderstorms in some parts. The UV index and pollen count will be high.”
