A member of staff and close contacts have tested positive.

A mushroom plant in Golden, Tipperary has suspended operations after a staff member tested positive for Covid-19.

Walsh Mushrooms said in a statement that its plant had suspended operations after a member of staff had tested positive while in self isolation.

“Subsequent testing of close contacts has resulted in further positive cases,” it said in a statement.

It said that it is working with the HSE and the relevant authorities to contact trace and test those who could potentially have been exposed.

“As a business, we have stringent measures in place to control Covid-19 since March and we have had no incidence of Covid-19 up to this point,” the company said.

It said it would use the suspension of operations to deep clean the facility but essential maintenance will continue.

“The safety, wellbeing and protection of our employees, their families and the local community is our number one priority,” the company said.
