Today’s weather will be a cracker and it’s going to get even better with a heatwave coming

Long may this continue.

England vs Panama, Donegal vs Fermanagh, Japan vs Senegal, Dublin vs Laois, Poland v Colombia, Mass.

Lads, there are so many sporting events – and masses – that you’ll be spoiled for choice but if you’re out and about, or if you just prefer lounging in the beer garden, you’ll be delighted to know that we’re set for another cracking day of sunshine.

That’s not all though because next week is shaping up to be a belter with a heatwave coming and temperatures expected to reach a sizzling 29c. Jaysus!

Ok, here’s what’s expected for today.

Met Eireann have said that today will be “Fine and mostly sunny today, Sunday, with any early mist patches soon clearing. Maximum temperatures will range 19 to 26 degrees, warmest inland. Light and variable winds with moderate onshore sea breezes around the coast.”

As for tonight, it’s expected to be dry and mostly clear tonight with just patchy high cloud.

Hell, things are so good that Joanna Donnelly, meteorologist for RTE and Met Eireann, described her weekend report as “my favourite forecast I’ve ever written.”

This is just a prelude of what’s to come though because next week will be a cracker.

Monday will see “Maximum temperatures will range 20C to 27C, again warmest inland, with cooler temperatures near the coast due to onshore sea breezes” and these brilliant conditions will continue as Ireland is expected to enjoy a five day heatwave due to an area of high pressure that’s dragging in warm air from the Mediterranean.

By mid-week, the mercury could be close to 30C – Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are expected to be the warmest days.

Met Eireann define a heatwave as five successive days above 25C in one area and it looks like Ireland is about to bask in some glorious sunshine over the coming few days.

Happy, happy days.
