Presenter Al Porter will take ‘personal time’ away from Today FM, the station confirmed on Saturday evening.

In a statement issued to JOE, Today FM said: “In light of recent events, Today FM and Al Porter have agreed that Al will take some personal time from his lunchtime radio show.

“No further comment will be made by Today FM at this time.”

In recent days, several people have claimed on social media that Mr Porter has in the past behaved inappropriately towards them.

The Irish edition of The London Times furthermore ran a front-page story on Saturday on the same topic – citing four, named individuals who allege that the TV and radio personality harassed them.

On Friday, Today FM had told Her: “Today FM has spoken with Al Porter and his management team concerning these online comments.

“We take any comments of this nature extremely seriously. Likewise, we take the welfare of our presenters and staff extremely seriously.”

Al Porter is currently one of Ireland’s most high-profile and in-demand presenting talents. He recently fronted Blind Date on TV3 and his arrival at Today FM earlier this year was a major coup for the station.

Presenting its lunchtime show (a slot once occupied by Dermot and Dave), Mr Porter also previously worked at 2FM.
