Top Gear are holding open auditions for their next co-presenter and it could be you

Could you be the next Jeremy Clarkson?

JOE

Like the Lotto, it could be you.

Its the stuff of most people’s dreams. The chance to present one of the most watched motor shows in the world, travel the globe and testing the newest cars.

Good news because the opportunity is up for grabs.

Since the appointment of Chris Evans as the new host of the mammoth show, there has been speculation about who will join him and now we know, it could be anyone.

As long as you have a thirst for cars and can string a sentence together along with a bit of humour, you could be a star in the making.

All you have to do is audition and make your talents known to the people of the BBC.

Chris Evans gave the good news while appearing on The One Show explaining that James May and Richard Hammond, the previous Top Gear presenters, were unknown when they joined the hit show and that the producers are looking for more of the same.

Evans said that the criteria for the position had not been decided yet but a passion for cars was a must, “you’ve got to know something about cars – you can be a mechanic, you can be an amateur racing driver, you can be a guy who’s a fireman but has been building his own Land Rover in his shed for five or 10 years… but you’ve got to know about cars.”

Elaborating on this he continued to say that they were looking for someone “extremely knowledgeable about cars… people who have great energy, good timing… who are keen to do things differently.”

The new host also said they the producers are definitely going to have a female presence on the show with former model Jodie Kidd favoured for the position of co-host.

Speaking on his Radio show “The Chris Evans Breakfast Show” he said that the number of hosts had not yet been decided but they were expecting an “overwhelming number of entries from all over the world”.

It could just be me, but I think that a touch of the Irish charm would be a great addition to the Top Gear team so get your audition tapes ready.

A website address is being given out on Friday (tomorrow) where people can post videos for audition. The video must not be more than 30 seconds long and should focus on you speaking.

Evans outlined exactly what they were looking for in the videos “No stunts or gimmicks, just concentrate on you… we are looking for enthusiasm and car knowledge… Top Gear must have an authenticity about it.”

Get to work lads!
