Tory politician attacks Jeremy Corbyn, gets caught out and embarrassed on live TV

"Those are actually the words of Boris Johnson, the foreign secretary"

Robert Redmond

Well, this is awkward.

Michael Fallon was caught out in a big way on Channel 4 News on Friday evening.

The Defence Secretary was attacking a quote by Jeremy Corbyn, after the Labour leader said the ‘war on terror’ has failed. Or at least Fallen thought he was.

Krishnan Guru-Murthy, the presenter, read out a quote to Fallon:

“Isn’t it possible that things like the Iraq war did not create the problem of murderous Islamic fundamentalists, though the war has unquestionably sharpened the resentments felt by such people in this country and given them a new pretext?”

The Tory minister thought the quote was from Corbyn, and hit out at the comments.

However, he was visibly shocked when he was told they were actually the words of his Tory colleague Boris Johnson.

“Those are actually the words of Boris Johnson, the foreign secretary,” the Channel 4 presenter said.

“He goes on to say: ‘the Iraq war did not introduce the poison into our bloodstream but, yes, the war did help to potentiate that poison’.”
