WATCH: Passengers evacuated after train derails on subway in New York

The incident occurred near 125th Street in Upper Manhattan.

34 people were reported injured as a result of the incident in New York, but their injuries were not life-threatening.

New York City Subway is investigating an incident in which a train derailed in Upper Manhattan on Tuesday.

According to DNAinfo New York, riders and officials said that a door was thrown off a southbound A train near 125th Street shortly before 10am on Tuesday morning, with dozens of passengers having to be evacuated as a result.

The train is believed to have lost power, while passengers on board reported seeing dust, smoke and sparks flying outside through the windows.

The New York Fire Department reported on Tuesday that 34 injuries, none of which were life-threatening, had been reported.

New York City Subway, meanwhile, announced that an investigation into the incident had been launched and that a number of services would be delayed as a result.
