The Taoiseach confirmed the news in the Dáil today.
Taoiseach Simon Harris has confirmed that the travel ban imposed on an Irish woman facing charges of ‘attempted suicide’ in Dubai has now been lifted.
28-year-old Tori Towey, an Emirates Airlines cabin crew employee, was allegedly violently assaulted at her home in Dubai.
According to advocacy group Detained in Dubai, she was then taken into police custody and charged with ‘attempted suicide and alcohol consumption’ and banned from leaving the country.
Mr Harris told the Dáil that the Irish embassy in Dubai will take Tori to the airport “as soon as she is ready to go”.

Irish woman charged in Dubai to be brought home after travel ban lifted
Ms Towey was in close contact with Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald, who then brought the case before the Dáil yesterday (Tuesday, July 9).
“She has been the victim of the most gross domestic violence,” Ms McDonald said. “Her passport has been destroyed. There was a travel ban imposed on her.”
She added that the Government must make it “absolutely plain to the authorities of Dubai that no woman should be treated in this way, and an Irish citizen, an Irish woman, will not be treated in this way”.
Ms McDonald wrote on X after the news broke that Ms Towey had her travel ban lifted: “Tori Towey will travel home to Ireland.”
“The travel ban has been lifted. We await her return and the end of her nightmare.”
