He has yet to be questioned by police

American rapper Travis Scott has been arrested in Paris after an alleged altercation with his bodyguard, local media has reported.

Scott, whose real name is Jacques Bermon Webster, was detained by gendarmes at the George V Hotel in the 8th arrondissement according to French outlet Valeurs Actuelles.

The rapper had been spotted cheering on the US basketball team in the Olympic semi-final which they came from behind to win against Serbia.

According to Le Parisien, police were called to the hotel, which is just steps away from the Champs-Elysees at around 5am due to ‘acts of violence against a receptionist’.

According to a police source, the 33-year-old was intoxicated at the time.

The source said: “The suspect was drunk and had been fighting with another man – possibly a receptionist in the hotel.

“He was not in the right condition to be questioned straight away, so was put in a cell where he is still sobering up.”

He is being held in a cell, suspected of violence against another person and shall be questioned later today.

It comes just over a month after the rapper was arrested in Miami after being involved in a ‘disturbance on a yacht’. When officers questioned whether he had been drinking he replied: “It’s Miami”.

He has had several run-ins with the law, most notably in 2021 when he was at the centre of the ‘Astroworld’ disaster where 10 people died in a crush at the rapper’s music festival.

Travis Scott was filmed continuing to perform as the crowd chanted for him to stop. A mass casualty event was declared at 9.38pm with the event continuing until 10.15pm.

However, last year, a Houston grand jury decided Scott would not face criminal charges over the deaths.
