Tributes have poured in for a 'lovely young man' who died following a workplace accident in Co. Cavan.
Jack McIlroy, 25, from Cluain Beag, Nobber, Co Meath, lost his life in a workplace accident at Paramount Doors Ireland Kingscourt.
McIlroy was well known in Leinster League soccer and was the secretary of the Electro Celtic FC.
The club paid tribute saying: "Jack was only 25 years old and took on the role of Secretary at his club last year due to his passion for soccer and brought a level of professionalism to the role in his time as club secretary, and took on many roles within his club.
"Our immediate thoughts and prayers are with his parents Alan and Deirdre, his family, friends, team mates and all at Electro Celtic football club during this sad time."
Parkceltic Summerhill also paid tribute writing: “Our deepest condolences to Electro Celtic, the teammates, family, and friends of Jack during this heartbreaking time. May he rest in peace.”
Gardai and emergency services attended the scene of the accident before midday on Wednesday August 27.
He was rushed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda for treatment but sadly passed away as a result of his injuries.
An investigation into his death has since been launched.
