The sister of a mum who was killed in a hit-and-run alongside her husband has vowed to look after the now-orphaned children as she leads tributes to the couple.
The couple, named locally as Georgina Hogg-Moore, 39, and Anthony Hogg, 40, were killed in a hit-and-run incident in Blanchardstown on St Stephen's Day.
A man was arrested the same night after he presented himself at a Garda station, he is still under detention.
A vigil was held at the scene for the couple yesterday evening (27 December).
The hit-and-run occurred at around 5.45pm and involved four pedestrians and one car. Georgina was pronounced dead at the scene. Anthony died of his injuries in hospital after being rushed from the incident. Two other pedestrians were uninjured.
Georgina's sister Katie wrote on social media: "I'll always mind your babies, absolutely heartbroken. Thanks for all the texts and calls. As you can imagine as a family we are absolutely broken-hearted, but if anyone knows anything please come forward I beg."
Heartbroken friends and family have been paying tribute to the couple across social media in recent days.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, saying in a statement: "Investigating Gardaí arrested a man (aged in his 40s) in connection with this incident yesterday evening, Thursday 26th December 2024. He is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at a Garda station in Dublin.
"A technical examination of the scene has been completed by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and the road has now reopened.
