Consular assistance is being offered to the families of the two men on the island.

Two Irish men in the 40s have died after a drowning accident in Crete.

The tragedy took place on Friday, the Department of Foreign Affairs have confirmed.

It is understood that the two men lived in North Dublin, although full details of Friday’s events have yet to be disclosed.
