Two people arrested after breaking into the home of man in his 70s in Cork

A man and a woman have been arrested as part of an investigation into an aggravated burglary in Cork.

The incident occurred at Bull’s Lane, Blackpool Road on Friday, 1 May.

Between the hours of 8pm on Friday 1 May and 6.30am on Saturday, 2 May, two individuals forced their way into a house.

A man, aged in his 70s, received minor injuries during the course of the incident, while a sum of cash was taken along with some personal belongings.

It’s understood that Gardaí arrested the pair, both aged in their 30s, as part of their investigation into the incident on Wednesday.

The woman, who was detained at Togher Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984, has since been charged and will appear before Cork City District Court on Thursday morning.

The man is still being detained at Mayfield Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
