Two more people with Covid-19 have died, 23 new cases

The public are urged to meet with friends and family in a safe way.

Two more people with Covid-19 have died in Ireland, the Health Protection Surveillance Centre has confirmed.

There has now been a total of 1,746 Covid-19 related deaths in Ireland.

The HPSC has also been notified of 23 confirmed cases of Covid-19 as of midnight on Friday.

There is now a total of 25,611 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ireland.

The HSE is working to identify any contacts the patients may have had to provide them with information and advice to prevent further spread.

Earlier on Saturday, the Department of Health urged the public to continue with social distancing and observe good hand hygiene and cough and sneeze etiquette.

“It is important to adapt to the new reality as we live with Covid-19, and meet with friends and family in a safe way,” the Department of Health said in a statement to JOE.

“This will protect not just you but everyone around you.”
