A big, big seizure…

Two women in their 30s have been arrested in Dublin after a massive drug seizure thought to be worth more than half a million euro.

An estimated street value of €670,000 worth of what is thought to be heroin and crack cocaine were seized following a traffic stop and a house search in Dublin.

Gardaí from the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau and the Special Crime Task Force, and supported by a number of specialised units from DMR arrested the two women in Bluebell, Dublin as part of on going investigations targeting an organised crime group in south and west Dublin.

Gardaí stopped a vehicle on Friday evening at approximately 5pm which was driven by a woman and after a search of the vehicle, suspected heroin with an estimated street value of €4,000 was seized.

She was arrested at the scene and is currently detained at Ballyfermot Garda Station.

The drugs unit then carried out further searches at a home in Bluebell where the larger quantities of drugs were discovered.

“In a follow up search at a house in Bluebell, 4.5 kilos of suspected heroin and crack cocaine (subject to analysis) was seized with an estimated street value of €670,000. A small amount of prescription tablets were also seized,” a Garda spokesperson said.

The second woman was arrested at this house and is currently detained at Kevin Street Garda Station.
