Two young offenders are on the run after escaping from Oberstown Detention Campus on Monday night.
Three youths broke out of the facility on Monday night, although one was caught by Gardaí. The other two are still at large, Minister for Children Katherine Zappone has confirmed.
The three youths reportedly took over a staff office at the facility on Monday night.
"The staff came immediately and were negotiating with them," said the Minister.
"Eventually they managed to get out of the office and they absconded. They left the campus."
The Minister said that there had been a number of positive changes at Oberstown in the last year and that "things will continue to get better" at the facility.
"There is always a risk for these things to happen but I'm hopeful that the young people will be returned."
