“Neutralise the occupier.”

Citizens in Ukraine have been encouraged to construct molotov cocktails in a bid to defend themselves from increasing Russian military action.

During a passionate overnight address to the nation and to the onlooking world at large, Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskiy said that Ukraine has “been left alone” to defend itself.

“We have been left alone to defend our state,” he said.

“Who is ready to fight alongside us? I don’t see anyone. Who is ready to give Ukraine a guarantee of NATO membership? Everyone is afraid.”

Russian forces continue to advance upon the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv, following Russian president Vladimir Putin’s chilling warning to the western world on Thursday.

As of Friday morning, reports are rife that the conflict is intensifying, with various urgent instructions being delivered to the general public on a frequent basis.

“Today Ukraine needs everything,” notes a statement issued by the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence on Friday.

“Carry only your passport and identification code. There are no age restrictions.”

The Ministry also noted that “dozens of experienced military pilots from the captain to the general, who had previously been discharged from the reserve, are returning to the Air Force of the Armed Forces.”

Reports have also emerged indicating that Ukrainian citizens have been asked to remain in their home and to prepare molotov cocktails as attacks intensify in the country.

Announcing that Russian troops are moving on Kyiv’s Obolon district, the Ministry of Defence posted on Twitter:

“We ask citizens to inform about the movement of equipment. Make molotov cocktails, neutralise the occupier.

“Peaceful residents – be careful. Do not leave the house.”

President Zelenskiy has said that he is the subject of an active assassination plot.

“They want to destroy Ukraine politically by taking down the head of state.

“I am staying in the government quarter together with others.

“The enemy has designated me as the target number one, and my family as the target number two.”

Zelenskiy noted that he anticipates Russian tanks to advance on the capital of Kyiv on Friday.

Thus far, 137 people, both civilians and military personnel, have been killed since the beginning of Russia’s advance upon Ukraine on Thursday, according to Zelenskiy.

Zelenskiy also reported that as many as 316 additional people had been wounded.

One of Thursday’s major developments saw Russian infantry seize control of the former site of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.

Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to the Ukrainian President, confirmed that Russian troops had seized the area.

“It is impossible to say the Chernobyl nuclear power plant is safe after a totally pointless attack by the Russians,” Pololyak said.

“This is one of the most serious threats in Europe today.”
