Updated thunderstorm warning now in place for 18 counties

Scattered heavy showers and thundery downpours could bring the risk of flooding.

Met Éireann has updated the Status Yellow thunderstorm warning it issued on Friday, with the warning currently in effect for 18 counties. The weather forecaster made the update on Saturday morning, with the warning valid from midday to 8pm. It applies to all of Leinster, along with the counties Cavan, Donegal, Leitrim, Monaghan, Roscommon and Sligo. The warning says there will be scattered heavy showers with localised thundery downpours on Saturday, which will bring the risk of spot flooding. https://twitter.com/MetEireann/status/1429016954292117506 Meanwhile, The UK Met Office has issued a Yellow rain warning for Antrim, Armagh, Derry, Down, Fermanagh and Tyrone that will be in effect from midday to midnight on Saturday. Sunday in the Republic of Ireland is set to be dry in most areas with sunny spells developing. The best will be in the east and northeast. It will be rather cloudy overall, with patchy drizzle in parts of Munster and along the west coast. Temperatures will range from 17 to 20 or 21 degrees, in light or variable breezes. In terms of the week ahead, Met Éireann's summary reads: "Mainly dry, settled weather for the rest of the week, with some sunshine and above normal temperatures."
