AEMET have warned that normal activities may be seriously disrupted and advised those in the vicinity to not travel unless it is strictly necessary.

The forecaster’s website says that very strong showers and storms will continue on Thursday in much of the Balearic island archipelago, mainly in the first half of the day.

The weather will include hail and very strong gusts of wind, however the intense rain will be the “greatest adversity” and may reach more than 60mm/hour.

Other cities on the mainland like Barcelona, Alicante, Valencia and Girona are under an amber alert for today (Wednesday, August 12).

The amber warning includes very strong gusts of wind, hail and rough sea conditions along the eastern coast of Spain.
