They will open over the next couple of years.
American fast-food chain Wendy’s plans to open 10 restaurants in Ireland between 2025 and 2027.
This is as Corrib Oil, one of the country’s leading service station and energy distribution providers, has reached an agreement with the food chain to become its franchise partner in Ireland.
Announcing the partnership, Corrib confirmed that as part of the first phase of the agreement, it plans to open 10 Wendy’s restaurants across the country over the 2025 to 2027 period.
The initial site locations will be announced in the New Year.
They will be a blend of standalone Wendy’s restaurants, as well as new Wendy’s offerings at existing Corrib service station locations.
It is said that the new Corrib-Wendy’s partnership will lead to the creation of around 300 new jobs in the first phase.
A recruitment campaign will be launched in early 2025.
“Wendy’s also anticipates sourcing ingredients locally wherever possible as part of its Irish rollout, and that all Wendy’s fresh beef will be 100 percent Irish sourced and certified,” Corrib and Wendy’s said in a statement.
Corrib Oil currently operates 38 convenience stores with forecourts across 17 counties.
It has existing partnerships with BWG Foods (operating under its Spar brand), Texaco, Circle K, Insomnia, Apache Pizza, Subway and Zambrero.
Founded in 1969, Wendy’s has more than 7,200 restaurants worldwide, including more than 1,200 outside the US.
It is best known for its “made-to-order square hamburgers, freshly prepared salads and other signature items like chili baked potatoes and the Frosty dessert”.
The name “Wendy’s” and its iconic logo – the little red-headed girl with pigtails – were inspired by one of its founder Dave Thomas’ daughters.
