US fried chicken shop Popeyes plans to open its first store in Ireland.
The company who is owned by Popeyes UK, PLK Chicken Ireland Limited, submitted an application for planning to Dublin City Council.
The group was seeking permission to develop a unit on Westmoreland Street in Dublin City Centre.
Popeyes opened an outlet in Belfast last year, their first restaurant on the island of Ireland.

When launching the restaurant in Lesley Forestside Shopping Centre, the brand revealed further openings in Ireland were planned.
The chain arrived in the UK in November of 2021, and has now expanded to over 65 British sites.
Popeyes takes in annual sales of £150m per year in the UK.
TDR Capital, a British private equity house bought a controlling stake of Popeyes UK last year, having initially invested £50m in the fast-food brand in 2023 to accelerate its UK expansion.
It was revealed earlier this year Popeyes UK also plan on opening over 45 stores this year, aiming to double its footprint.
