The incident took place in Alaska.

A hunter in Alaska is now fighting for his life after a bear that he shot fell down a slope and landed on him.

William McCormick, 28, was flattened by the tumbling animal while hunting with a partner.

The incident took place near Carter Lake on Saturday afternoon.

According to CNN, the two men shot a bear on a ridge above them. The bear then began to fall down a slope, dislodging large rocks along the way.

It is said that one of the rocks hit McCormick, as did the large bear.

McCormick was rushed by helicopter to an Anchorage hospital with “life-threatening injuries”, while his hunting partner Zachary Tennyson, 19, was not injured and alerted authorities by sending a distress signal.

It was not revealed whether or not the bear was killed.

According to the State Department of Public Safety, McCormick was hand carried to a Lifemed helicopter and transported to Anchorage Providence with life-threatening injuries.
