The 24-year-old year victim was an army veteran and had been on the force for two years.

It is reported that a US police officer was killed by one of her fellow officers while off-duty and playing a game of Russian Roulette.

According to The Washington Post, neighbours witnessed “two men dragging a bleeding woman into a vehicle and then speeding away. But then they noticed something odd. The vehicle was marked with the St. Louis Police Department logo. And the two men were officers.”

It was later discovered that the woman was 24-year-old Katlyn Alix, who died at the hospital, and she had been shot by one of her colleagues.

Initially it was announced that one of the officers had mishandled the weapon, but it was revealed that they had been playing a game in which one bullet was loaded into a gun and the officers proceeded to fire the weapon at each other.

As a result, 29-year-old police officer Nathaniel R. Hendren has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and armed criminal action.

According to further reports (via TWP), once Alix was pronounced dead at the hospital, Hendren head-butted the window of a police SUV hard enough to shatter the glass and then had to be hospitalized for his injuries.

Alix’s mother released a statement to local news outlet KMOV (via Stuff.co.nz):

“She always told me, ‘Mom, if I die, it’s doing something I love to do.’ So, it made me feel a little better. But this does not make me feel better.”
