After Yaya Toure’s antics this week, it’s refreshing to know that not all footballers turn into spoilt brats when things don’t go their way.

The high-profile omission of Landon Donovan from Jurgen Klinsmann’s USA World Cup squad attracted more coverage Stateside, but Seattle Sounders midfielder Brad Evans was also left disappointed having failed to make the final cut for the tournament in Brazil next month.

Not everyone who’s been in a similar predicament has taken this news very well – Samir Nasri or his missus anyone? – but Evans accepted his fate with a light-hearted message to Cristiano Ronaldo, who the USA will have to deal with when they go up against Portugal in the group stages.

Well played Brad.
