Video: Aussie politician makes a brilliant gaffe involving the word ‘suppository’

Guess Tony Abbott’s just going to have to grin and bear this one.

Guess Tony Abbott’s just going to have to grin and bear this one.

Australia is just getting its general election campaign underway, meaning the poor Australian public are facing into a month or more of politicians bombarding them from TV, radio and every other medium to get their ‘message’ across.

Unfortunately for Liberal Party leader Tony Abbott, his campaign is off to a shocker, after he made a superb gaffe at a press event in Melbourne.

While trying to explain to the audience that the Liberal Party would be a government that would take all opinions on board, a jab at how Kevin Rudd runs the Labour Party, Abbott attempted to say that no one was the ‘repository of all wisdom’. Unfortunately, he used the word ‘suppository’ instead. Skip to about 0.30 into the clip to see it and cringe as he carries on while a few in the crowd giggle.

There is still a long way to go in the election but gaffes like that have a habit of staying with you.
