No one seems to know what exactly caused this massive flash, which lit up the night sky over in Russia recently.
Videos of the bright light have made their way onto YouTube and they show the moment when the sky in Russia’s Sverdlovsk region was illuminated by a strange orange/yellow glow.
The initial explanation for the strange glow was that it was caused by a meteorite breaking up as it entered the earth’s atmosphere. However, Russian observatory engineer Vadim Krushinsky said that flashes caused by meteorites are usually much whiter.
According to Russian Today, emergency officials suggested the military were behind the flash, as they might have had a scheduled explosive ordnance disposal procedure. So, was it the Russian military just doing a bit of training?
“No exercise and training were underway on that day, and no military units are based in the region, so we have nothing to do with it,” a military press service told E1.ru.
Oh…
Strangely, no one really seems to know what exactly happened behind the clouds in the Sverdlovsk region on November 14 and, seeing as it’s Russia, we may never find out.
We wonder if it had anything to do with the meteor that was spotted over Co. Mayo at the weekend?
