After all the chaos that occurred on Capitol Hill yesterday, eyewitness footage has emerged of the incredible car chase that shocked onlookers in Washington.
You may have seen pictures of the chase on the site last night and now a video footage has emerged of the chase that took place after a female driver is alleged to have tried to gain access to the White House by ramming her car into a security gate.
Government buildings in Washington were placed on lockdown with members of Congress sheltered in their offices as the incident unfolded, coming at a time when the US are trying to deal with a shutdown of the levers of power due to a political wrangle in the US capital.
After the incident in the White House, the driver subsequently set off towards Capitol Hill, prompting an incredible car chase that ended 1.7 miles from the White House after the woman driving the car was shot dead by police. A one-year old child who was also in the car was unhurt.
Commenting on the chase, Capitol police chief Kim Dine is quoted as saying in The Guardian: “We have no information that this was related to terrorism or is anything other than an isolated incident.”
