Video: Government confirms that Santa is definitely real

For all of those who were concerned about the government’s official Santa policy, you need wonder no more

What with it being the season for all things Christmas, JOE has been watching our behaviour pretty closely, seeing as we don’t want to end up on the naughty list come December 25th.

However, Fine Gael TD Jim Daly hasn’t been so diligent in recent weeks, after comparing a motion in the Dáil to fanciful letter to Santa, according to the lads at Irish Central.

Daly gave the members present that day an impression of a letter to Santa in which he said “I am sorry that the day ever came when it dawned on me that Santa did not exist, because I would love to send the motion off to him”, but that didn’t go down too well with the rest of the government.

They’ve moved to clarify that their official position is that he does exist (which is JOE’s stance on the matter too) with an official spokesperson saying they hope “he won’t end up on the naughty list for his other remarks. Everybody knows Santa sees all – even Dáil debates.”

For his part, Daly apologised and told The Journal that he would have his comments cleared from the Dáil record, adding “I trust Santa will understand that sometimes in the heat of political debate we say things we regret.” Good thing too, he should be back on the good list just in time for the big day.
